Where they stand
In their own words, from their campaign website, summarised in plain English. Under each issue, their Senate votes: Final passage votes in the Senate in the last two Congresses (2023 to now), matched to each issue by Congress.gov's own topic for the bill (and its subject tags, unless it is a catch-all bill with dozens), closest votes first: a lopsided vote says little about where anyone stands.
Economy and cost of living
Jones says he would suspend the state gas tax when prices spike, raise the minimum wage, renew the no-tax-on-overtime law, create a state Earned Income Tax Credit, expand childcare, and offer free community college to adults without credentials. He also says he would pursue more affordable housing and loosen occupational licensing rules.
Taxes and government spending
Jones says he would fully eliminate the state grocery tax, suspend the gas tax when prices spike, and end taxes on overtime. He says he would put a state lottery to voters to bring in revenue without raising taxes on working families, and would give no tax breaks to data center companies.
Health care
Jones says he would expand Medicaid to cover more than 154,000 working Alabamians and stop Alabama from turning down about $182 million a year in federal health funding. He says this would keep rural hospitals open and cut uncompensated care, and would expand treatment for opioid addiction and mental health.
Social Security and Medicare

Immigration and the border

Abortion
Jones says Alabama should have protected IVF and contraception, and criticises the state's approach to maternal health, saying it earns an "F" from the March of Dimes. He says the abortion restrictions were only the start of what opponents plan.
“Protected IVF and contraception.”
Energy and climate
Jones says he would impose a one-year moratorium on new approvals of AI data centers above 20 megawatts. Afterward he would require public hearings, impact studies, and a rule that data centers cover their own power costs impact on rates, while keeping utility regulators accountable to voters.
Guns
No stated position on their website.
Crime and policing
Jones says he would overhaul Alabama's prisons with a public forensic audit of prison construction, oversight outside the Department of Corrections, and an independent unit to investigate abuse and corruption. He also says he would set enforceable staffing standards, raise officer pay and training, and pair new construction with sentencing, parole, addiction, mental health and re-entry reforms.
Education
Jones says he would offer free community college for adults without credentials and strengthen apprenticeship incentives. He also says he would expand childcare options and put lottery revenue toward voter-chosen priorities such as education.
Foreign policy and defense
No stated position on their website.
Elections and ethics in government
Jones says he would ban statewide elected officials from trading individual stocks, tighten reporting rules for legislators, and allow citizen-led ballot initiatives and referendums. He says he would also add early voting, end straight-ticket one-box voting, and pass a constitutional amendment banning partisan gerrymandering and creating a commission to draw districts.
“Ban statewide elected officials from trading individual stocks while in office. Period.”
