Where they stand
In their own words, from their campaign and official websites, summarised in plain English.
Economy and cost of living
Kotek says she is working to make life more affordable. She says she has gone after corporate price gouging, worked to lower housing costs, signed laws to rein in utility rates and protect people from medical debt, and partnered with local businesses to invest in the state.
Taxes and government spending
Kotek says she called for a three-year pause on new local taxes in the Portland area, canceled proposed freeway tolls, and cut property taxes for Oregonians affected by wildfires.
Health care
Kotek says she has worked with both parties to expand mental health and addiction treatment, and to make sure everyone can get the health care they need. She says she also joined other West Coast governors in a health alliance and ensured COVID-19 vaccine access without cost or liability worries.
Social Security and Medicare
Kotek says Trump and a Republican-led Congress are cutting Medicaid and food assistance for Oregonians and raising health care premiums.
Immigration and the border
Kotek says Oregon is ready to push back on the Trump administration's deployment of National Guard troops to Portland over protests at the ICE facility, and that state officials planned for mass deportations and federal takeovers of the Guard. She says, "We will stand together and fight back."
“We will stand together and fight back,”
Abortion
Kotek says she supports reproductive freedom. She says she secured a three-year supply of mifepristone, signed a law with stronger actions against people who block abortion clinics, and expanded protections for medical providers and patient privacy.
“I believe in reproductive freedom and am committed to being a fierce advocate for every person’s access to safe reproductive health care services, no matter the national landscape.”
Energy and climate
Kotek says she has worked to protect Oregon's land, water and air while ensuring the state does its part on climate. She says she helped put Oregon on a path to 100% clean energy as House Speaker and has worked to get first responders the resources to face wildfires.
Guns
Kotek says she signed a law banning undetectable ghost guns, which are guns made at home without a serial number.
Crime and policing
Kotek says she works with state and local law enforcement to give them the resources they need. She says she expanded a fentanyl enforcement initiative to hold drug dealers accountable, directed the elimination of the police academy training backlog, and worked with both parties to stop public drug use.
Education
Kotek says she has made education a top priority. She says she funded early literacy, expanded summer learning, committed $50 million to affordable childcare, and signed laws requiring districts to track student outcomes with stronger accountability for spending.
Foreign policy and defense
No stated position on their website.
Elections and ethics in government
Kotek says she has defended Oregon's vote-by-mail elections against the Trump administration. She says, "States have the authority to conduct elections, not the President."

Ratings and endorsements
No ratings: the groups we track score votes in Congress and endorse federal candidates, and we have not collected ratings or endorsements for governor candidates.
