Where they stand

In their own words, from their campaign website, summarised in plain English.

Economy and cost of living

Ramaswamy says he wants to make Ohio the most affordable state by cutting red tape and government waste, and by lowering property taxes and electric bills. He also calls for a 90-day suspension of Ohio's gas tax.

Accurate?

Taxes and government spending

Ramaswamy says he will roll property taxes back to pre-pandemic levels in his first two-year budget and phase out the state income tax over 10 years, starting with the tax on capital gains. He says he will pair the cuts with spending reductions.

Accurate?

Health care

Ramaswamy says he will cut Medicaid fraud and waste by seeking a federal waiver so Ohio keeps at least 65 cents of every dollar saved, simplifying Medicaid administration, and making fraud prosecution a priority. He says savings would go back to Ohioans through lower premiums, co-pay help and Health Savings Accounts, and he would add work or education requirements for able-bodied adults.

Elections and ethics in government

Ramaswamy says he opposes the Seneca County Board of Elections' ban on poll managers who criticize voting machines, calling it an unconstitutional loyalty test. He says that as governor he will stand against government overreach and for constitutional freedoms.

“no government body has the authority to impose unconstitutional loyalty tests on American citizens.”
