Where they stand
In their own words, from their campaign website, summarised in plain English.
Economy and cost of living
Lahn says he wants to put Iowa-based companies first: end tax credits and economic development funds for out-of-state and foreign corporations, bar Wall Street hedge funds from buying single-family homes, and create tax rebates for young Iowans who stay or return, to help with a down payment on a home.
“End tax credits and economic development funds for out-of-state and foreign corporations and prioritize Iowa-based companies with deep community roots.”
Taxes and government spending
Lahn says he wants lower taxes for Iowans, including lower property taxes paid by Iowans funded by raising property tax rates on Wall Street institutional investors.

Health care
Lahn says he will work to lower Iowa's cancer rates, aiming to move the state to the bottom half of cancer diagnoses. He says he wants clean food, clean water and independent state safety tests on products used in Iowa, and wants the University of Iowa to focus on the state's cancer crisis.
“Clean food. Clean water. Honest medicine. I will work to defeat the cancer crisis plaguing state.”

Immigration and the border
Lahn says he will ban benefits for illegal immigrants and stop issuing H1B visas for jobs Iowans can do in state government and universities.

Abortion
Lahn says every life is a gift from God and that it is our duty to protect life before birth, as well as after birth by addressing chronic health issues facing children.

Education

He also wants to create innovation zones for schools, cut or sharply reduce standardized testing, make public schools compete with private ones, and raise the quota for Iowa residents at the University of Iowa and Iowa State.
“If a teacher is caught pushing a political agenda in the classroom, their teaching license will be revoked, period.”
Foreign policy and defense
Lahn says he would confiscate any land illegally owned by China and sell it back to young families and veterans.
Elections and ethics in government
Lahn says he does not answer to donors or corporations, and he opposes using eminent domain for a private company's profit.
“Absolutely oppose use of eminent domain for private company profit.”
Ratings and endorsements
No ratings: the groups we track score votes in Congress and endorse federal candidates, and we have not collected ratings or endorsements for governor candidates.
Money
Candidates for governor report to the state, not the FEC, and this page doesn't cover state reports. Iowa's campaign-finance reports ↗
