Where they stand
In their own words, from their campaign website, summarised in plain English. House roll-call votes are not included yet: the Senate's are, and the House's come from a different source still being added.
Economy and cost of living
Donalds says he wants to cut permitting delays for businesses by posting every permit on a state website with a countdown clock and putting major development permits in one digital hub. He also says he would keep Florida's state income tax at zero and send complex business lawsuits to specialized judges.
Taxes and government spending
Donalds says he would keep Florida's personal income tax at zero, balance the state budget each year, and lower taxes at every opportunity. He also says he would keep property taxes in check, and in Congress he backs a simplified federal tax code and a Balanced Budget Amendment.
Health care
Donalds says he would require doctors and hospitals to publish upfront cash prices for the 50 most common tests and procedures. He would also require insurers to approve common treatments within three days and expose pharmacy middleman markups. In Congress he opposed the Affordable Care Act and backed buying health insurance across state lines.
Social Security and Medicare
No stated position on their website.
Immigration and the border
Donalds says he wants to secure the borders, end state funds and benefits that encourage illegal immigration, and require every Florida business to use E-Verify. He also says state and local police should work directly with federal authorities to deport non-citizens who commit crimes.
Abortion
No stated position on their website.
Energy and climate
In Congress, Donalds says he backs American-produced oil and gas, faster approval of energy projects, and fewer regulations on the energy industry. He also supports nuclear energy and says he would stop large data centers from passing their electricity and water costs on to ordinary households.
Guns
Donalds says he opposes gun control legislation and will defend the right to keep and bear arms. He describes his view as "Shall Not Be Infringed, means Shall Not Be Infringed!"
“Shall Not Be Infringed, means Shall Not Be Infringed!”
Crime and policing
Donalds says he would offer hiring bonuses and competitive pay to recruit police, protect officers' legal rights against frivolous complaints, and impose firm prison sentences on violent offenders. He also says he would go after drug cartels with severe penalties and joint law enforcement task forces to stop fentanyl.
Education
Donalds says he wants every child reading by third grade, with free state-funded tutoring for struggling third graders and bonuses for top reading teachers. He says he would also have school funding follow the student so parents can choose a school, and expand paid apprenticeships so students can reach good jobs without student debt.
Foreign policy and defense
Donalds says he is advancing President Trump's "Peace Through Strength" America First foreign policy agenda.
Elections and ethics in government
Donalds says he would put all of Florida's government spending online, with every state, county and city contract in one searchable website. He also says he would require annual audits at all levels of government. In Congress he says he voted to ban congressional insider trading.
Ratings and endorsements
No ratings: the groups we track score votes in Congress and endorse federal candidates, and we have not collected ratings or endorsements for governor candidates.
Money
Candidates for governor report to the state, not the FEC, and this page doesn't cover state reports. Florida's campaign-finance reports ↗
Praise, criticism and controversies
These sections are not covered for governor candidates yet: every item in them is checked by a person before it is shown, and that review covers Senate candidates for now.
