Economy and cost of living
Vasquez says he wants to raise wages, back the PRO Act and workers' right to unionize, help small businesses, and make corporations pay their fair share. He also says he backs cutting costs for housing, childcare and utilities and cracking down on large corporate landlords.
Vasquez says he wants to repeal the Trump tax cuts and support policies that cut taxes on working families. He says he introduced the Inflation Relief Act to lower taxes for middle-class families and expand the Child Tax Credit.
Vasquez says he backs reversing the health care cuts in the Republican tax law, extending ACA tax credits, a public option, and letting Medicare negotiate drug prices. He also says he wants to cap insulin at $35, cap yearly prescription costs, and relieve medical debt.
Vasquez says he wants Medicare to keep negotiating lower drug prices. He says he voted for a bill to expand coverage for seniors, and supported legislation expanding Medicare access to Alzheimer's preventive and diagnostic care.
Vasquez says he wants border security, deportation of violent criminals, and tougher penalties on cartels and smugglers. He also says he wants ICE reformed to focus on violent criminals, protection for Dreamers, and a permanent path to legal status for working families.
Vasquez says he opposes Republican attempts to ban abortion or birth control and is committed to protecting the right to choose. He says he backs the Women's Health Protection Act to codify Roe v. Wade and access to IVF.
Vasquez says he supports an all-of-the-above approach that includes oil and gas and clean energy. He says he wants faster permitting of energy projects, lower utility bills, and action on climate change.
Vasquez says he wants to get illegal guns off the streets. He has also received endorsements from gun-safety groups such as Giffords PAC and Moms Demand Action.
Vasquez sits on the House Armed Services Committee. He says he works to bring investments and pay raises to service members and New Mexico's military installations, and he has criticized the war in Iran for raising energy prices.
Vasquez says he will fight to protect every eligible American's right to vote and to make sure valid election results stand. He says he leads a bipartisan effort to ban stock trading in Congress.
