Where they stand
In their own words, from their campaign website, summarised in plain English.
Economy and cost of living
Green says she wants to expand paid family and medical leave, raise wages to a living wage, make child care more affordable, and back labor rights and collective bargaining. She also says she would increase affordable housing funding and invest in small businesses and workforce training.
Taxes and government spending
Green says she would end the state grocery tax and the tax on diapers and menstrual products, and put the tax back on corporations. She says she would close corporate loopholes and redirect school voucher money, and that no tax increases on everyday Tennesseans are needed.
“We don't need to ask everyday Tennesseans to pay more—we just need leadership that makes corporations pay their fair share and puts public dollars to good use.”
Health care
Green says she would expand Medicaid to cover more working families and keep rural hospitals open, and protect TennCare. She also says she would lower prescription drug costs, invest in mental health and addiction recovery, legalize marijuana, and use $10 million of TANF funds to erase medical debt.
Social Security and Medicare
Green says she would support elder care programs for aging family members and protect families from cuts to SNAP and housing aid. As a city councilor she increased funding to feed seniors at city centers.
Immigration and the border
Green says that on day one she would sign an executive order ending state and local law enforcement cooperation with ICE and banning ICE from state buildings. She says she would also fund legal representation for immigrants facing deportation and end the National Guard deployment in Memphis.
Abortion
Green says she would repeal Tennessee's near-total abortion ban and restore access to reproductive health care, including contraception and emergency care. She says she would sign an executive order on day one so doctors can practice women's health care without fear of prosecution, and protect IVF and miscarriage management.
Energy and climate
Green says she would enforce clean air and water standards, invest in renewable energy and green jobs, and protect rivers, forests and public lands. She also says she would keep TVA public, fund local energy storage grants, and push for a statewide data center moratorium.
Guns
Green says she would require universal background checks, pass red flag laws, close domestic violence loopholes, and provide free gun locks statewide. She also says she would bring back training and testing for concealed carry permits, while saying one can honor the Second Amendment.
“We can honor the Second Amendment and still pass laws that keep our children safe.”
Crime and policing
Green says she would end private prison contracts with CoreCivic and ban AI use in bail, sentencing and parole decisions. On the Memphis City Council she says she increased funding for first responders and started programs to make jobs more accessible to ex-offenders.
Education
Green says she would fully fund K-12 public schools instead of voucher programs, raise teacher pay, and expand counselors, nurses and support staff. She also says she would invest in universal pre-K, special education and rural schools.
Foreign policy and defense
No stated position on their website.
Elections and ethics in government
Green says she would launch an online report card for tracking state contracts and grants, appoint qualified, ethical leaders rather than political cronies, and not use special-called sessions to push political agendas.
Ratings and endorsements
No ratings: the groups we track score votes in Congress and endorse federal candidates, and we have not collected ratings or endorsements for governor candidates.
Money
Candidates for governor report to the state, not the FEC, and this page doesn't cover state reports. Tennessee's campaign-finance reports ↗
