Economy and cost of living
Johnson says he supports free-market policies with limited government regulation, and points to tax cuts, deregulation, and incentives for domestic manufacturing as ways to boost jobs and grow the economy.
Johnson says he wants to cut taxes for working families, make those tax cuts permanent, reduce federal spending, and balance the federal budget while eliminating wasteful spending.

Johnson says he supports expanding domestic energy production, reversing restrictions like a natural gas export pause, and passing legislation like the Ratepayer Protection Act so that companies building data centers, not families, pay for the electricity infrastructure they need.

Johnson says America must remain the strongest military power in the world to counter adversaries, supports increased defense investment and pay raises for troops, and backed sanctions legislation to pressure Russia over its war in Ukraine.

Johnson says he supports secure elections, including requiring voter ID and proof of citizenship, opposes allowing noncitizens to vote, wants to ban members of Congress from trading individual stocks, and supports a constitutional amendment to keep the Supreme Court at nine justices rather than expanding it.

Bernie Moreno, has made domestic abuse allegations against him; Johnson said in interviews that "things don't look good" for Miller but continued to back Miller's reelection while deferring to a House Ethics Committee investigation. Miller has denied the allegations.

The Hill reported Johnson said Rep. Tony Gonzales must address allegations he had an affair with a congressional staffer who later died; Fox News later reported Johnson and other GOP leaders asked Gonzales to drop his reelection bid after the House Ethics Committee announced an investigation into his conduct.

The Federal Election Commission opened Matter Under Review (MUR) 7491 after receiving a complaint alleging that Mike Johnson for Louisiana and its treasurer may have violated provisions of the Federal Election Campaign Act.
After Matt Gaetz resigned from Congress amid a House Ethics Committee investigation into alleged sexual misconduct, illicit drug use and bribery, Johnson urged the committee not to release its report, arguing former members are outside its jurisdiction.
PBS and NPR reported that Johnson and President Trump initially sought to block or delay a discharge petition and floor vote forcing release of DOJ files on Jeffrey Epstein, before Johnson said he would support the bill after Trump reversed course.
