Where they stand

In their own words, from their campaign website, summarised in plain English.

Economy and cost of living

Cox says he wants to cut taxes, fees and the cost of living, with incentives for young people and help for small businesses so groceries and electric bills come down. He also plans first-time homebuyer help, including possible mortgage down payment assistance and tax credits, and cuts to building costs and permitting burdens.

Accurate?

Taxes and government spending

Cox says he would reduce the corporate and income tax rate to 4.9%, reverse recent added fees, and work to cap, limit or eliminate property taxes for seniors. He says he would end "pet projects" and spend only on priorities, and give counties relief from new state mandates and costs.

Cox says he would fully fund schools, make sure teachers have the resources they need, and see that every dollar goes directly to classrooms.
