In their own words, from their campaign website, summarised in plain English.

Economy and cost of living

Hinojosa says she would direct the legislature to send every Texas household a one-time $1,500 refund check, paid from the state's Rainy Day Fund. She also says she would ban surveillance pricing on groceries, freeze residential electricity rates until data centers pay their own way, and stop private equity firms from buying up housing.

“As Governor, Gina will direct the legislature to deliver a bill to her desk to issue one-time $1,500 refund checks to every household in Texas.”

Energy and climate

Hinojosa says she wants an immediate moratorium on new data centers and a special session to end their tax breaks. She says she would have the Public Utility Commission freeze residential electricity rates until data centers and other large users pay for their own costs. She also says she wants to get more wind, solar and other clean energy onto the grid, with stakeholder input on new transmission lines.

Education

She says she would fire Education Commissioner Mike Morath, appoint an educator to lead the Texas Education Agency, and use money from terminated vendor contracts to make Texas teacher pay among the highest in the nation.

“As Governor, Gina will end the STAAR test and tests like it, pause the rigged A-F accountability system, and call on the Legislature to deliver a bill that creates real accountability.”
