Accurate?

Where they stand

In their own words, from their campaign website, summarised in plain English.

Economy and cost of living

Hull says he wants to diversify New Mexico's economy with targeted incentives for research, aerospace, defense, bioscience and advanced manufacturing, and to cut small-business red tape and occupational licensing barriers. He also wants more career and technical training in high schools.

Accurate?

Taxes and government spending

Hull says he would phase out New Mexico's personal income tax in four years through his "Four Steps to Zero" plan, starting with the first $25,000 of taxable income for single filers and $50,000 for joint filers. Business net profits would stay taxable, and he says funding for classrooms, health care and public safety would be protected.

Accurate?

Health care

Hull says he would protect rural hospitals and clinics, reform medical malpractice laws to cut costs, push for competitive reimbursement rates, and lower prescription drug costs. He also wants more interstate licensing compacts, more telehealth, and programs to recruit and retain doctors and nurses.

Accurate?

Crime and policing

Hull says he would increase police presence statewide, set a zero-tolerance policy for violent crimes and crimes against children, and fund police pay at levels competitive with neighboring states. He also supports grants to help local governments hire officers and more behavioral health teams to take mental health calls off police.

Accurate?

Education

Hull says he would tie part of school funding to gains in reading, math and graduation rates, raise academic standards, and tackle chronic absenteeism. He also supports expanded school choice and charter schools, tutoring, special education, career and technical education, and teacher pipeline programs.

Accurate?

Foreign policy and defense

No stated position on their website.

Accurate?

Elections and ethics in government

Hull says he would put major state and federally funded infrastructure projects on a public online dashboard and strengthen auditing of state contracts.
