Shall the City Charter be amended to clarify that the Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission (ICRC) is independent of City Council control, allow the ICRC to review City districts after changes to the City’s boundary lines, create voter registration and residency duration exceptions for student members, provide an effective date for the redistricting plan adopted by the ICRC, increase the potential appointees to the ICRC, clarify the method and timing of filing vacancies on the ICRC, and allow City staff to communicate with the ICRC outside of meeting as long as such communication is in compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act?
This is the wording printed on the Travis County ballot. The City’s ordinance differs in three places: “increase the number of individuals in the pool of potential appointees to the ICRC”, “filling vacancies”, and “outside of a meeting”.

Committees registered to support or oppose Proposition C, and what they reported to the City of Austin City Clerk. Checked 2026-10-20.
Before comparing the sides: each committee’s figures come from its own latest report, so they can cover different dates. Some committees work on more than one measure or other campaigns, and their totals include all of it. A side with no registered committee can still have supporters. How much a side raised says nothing about whether the measure is a good idea.

A rhetorical technique is about wording, not about whether a measure is a good idea or an argument is true. Ballot wording is written under the city’s and state’s rules, and official arguments by the people the state names. All Austin, Texas measures →
