Speaker Mike Johnson. Speaker Johnson thank you, sir I know you're a very busy chap and we appreciate your time very, very much I think you're a thousand percent right about the polling. And by the way maybe reinforcing it, I just saw a good poll off the Daily Wire echelon Republican enthusiasm is starting to pick up Looks like it's picked up ten points in just the last ten or twelve days something like, you know, fifty-five to sixty-five percent almost caught up to Democratic enthusiasm Mr. Speaker That's exactly right Larry. Great to be with you I am excited. Look I've been traveling the country nonstop campaigning and fundraising. By the way we just hit an all-time record just my direct dollars in Super PAC the Speaker of Super PAC five hundred twenty-six million raised We're spending it well. We have superior candidates an extraordinary record to run on and we have great energy on the ground Larry, everywhere I go from coast to coast and I'm, I'm traveling nonstop forty districts across twenty-two states this month alone I'm going to the swing districts I'm going to the places that the pundits and the pollsters say we're going to lose. They are wrong We have incredible turnout As I said in that clip you played it feels like 2024 to me when we defy the odds I believe we can defy history and keep this majority And our our voters just need to ignore all the noise and go vote. Do your civic duty That's why that enthusiasm is picked up right now. They understand this is a contrast election between common sense and crazy And the American people are Are not signing up for crazy That's why we're going to win Yes sir Before we get deeper into the your messaging and so forth can I just raise a point? There's a headline this morning Secretary of State Rubio is saying that President Trump is going to take up to sixty days to weigh the Russian sanctions to weigh the waiver of the Russian sanctions I'm sure you're well acquainted with the issue The president himself, seems to be holding back He hasn't quite announced it yet as you know, a lot of your colleagues in the Republican House conference are very concerned about waiving these sanctions because Putin is not upholding any kind of energy ceasefire what do you think about this? Is this, you know, when it was first announced it seemed like a good idea help the truck drivers help the diesel situation help the middle class That's the Republican calling card during the Trump years. I'm all for it But then Putin throws a monkey wrench in by bombing energy infrastructure. And so forth Where are you on this issue sir? Do you, do you want to waive these Lindsey Graham, tariffs or do you want to maybe just forego it and work through a different route? Well, look, Congress voted on this decisively just several weeks ago, and we understand that Putin cannot be trusted He demonstrates that over and over and over So I did talk to several of my colleagues yesterday who had concerns about that. They're on committees of jurisdiction like intelligence and foreign affairs and I didn't talk to the president yesterday because he and I are both traveling nonstop and we were on different schedules but I told the White House team that we need to talk about it and and I think carefully consider the the unintended consequences that that may ensue from that So I know the president's evaluating this as he does everything else He, look, he has two major objectives as you know, Larry, every day He wants to keep America safe and he wants to bring down the cost of living for every American He thinks outside the box with creative ideas all the time and, and he carefully evaluates those So I I think the right decision will be made here in the end Well, I think it is somewhat amusing I think you'd agree you know, when Democrats talk about affordability and Democrats talk about gasoline prices because of the war particularly in Iran, and, clearly we don't want to let ever let Iran have nuclear weapons you know, when they had their shot at it Speaker, when they had their shot four years under Mr. Biden the peak inflation rate was nine percent as you well know the cumulative rate was twenty-one percent And here's the irony of irony Talk about gasoline. They hate gasoline They'd have ten dollars a gallon of gasoline if you ask me. In fact they would ban gasoline-powered cars Take a look at the California gasoline prices, two bucks above the national average I mean am I supposed to take seriously the fact that Democrats are talking about affordability after what they tried to do with the crazy Green New Deal and this climate change business? Exactly. It's as if they want us to just forget everything that's happened in recent memory They committed to end fossil fuels They they put bans on LNG and LNG exports They stopped permitting and and production. It, it, they they wanted to end the industry If, if we turn this back over to Democrats right now we know what the result would be It'd be chaos It, it would be big government socialism a leap towards that It, it would be higher prices and Congress would be turned into a circus I mean they're telling everyone on the campaign trail exactly what they want to do And I'm not even talking about the Democrat Socialists of America platform which we know you said they wanted to they, they put in writing they want to abolish the border abolish prisons, defund the police, defund the Department of War you know, pack the Supreme Court remove the presidency. I mean it's just madness But what the what the so-called establishment Democrats are saying is that they want to reverse the working family's tax cuts the biggest tax cut in US history They want exact retribution on the Trump administration Administration every hour of every day for the next two years. What would that do to the markets? What would that do to stability for us here? And what message would it send to our enemies around the world at this dangerous time? You know, Larry they want to defund border security They want to, they want to pack the courts I mean, this would be an absolute disaster and I think that's why you see the enthusiasm numbers going up. I think that's why you see large crowds of republicans and even independents people who believe in common sense They understand you cannot turn the keys of government over to these crazy people That's what we have You you have two different candidates in every one of these House races across the country Two different, completely different visions for who we are as America and I think common sense is going to prevail No, sorry, didn't mean to interrupt you know just one last one on that point my pal Kim Strassel of the Wall Street Journal wrote a great piece about how Alaska could be committing economic suicide if they don't elect Senator Dan Sullivan I know he's not part of your flock directly but you know Dan Sullivan The real Dan Ed Sullivan I might add. You know him quite well as we all do He's one of the smartest guys in the US Senate. I mean so let's not forget it was the Democrats right, that stopped no fracking no drilling, no pipeline no offshore leasing, no onshore leasing, no ANWR, no National Petroleum Reserve no Keystone Pipeline. I mean who are they kidding when they talk about affordability for fuel prices and gasoline and diesel? Who are they kidding? But this is something I would like the Republicans to hammer on as hard as possible in the next 16 days You're exactly right, and we are Our candidates are out telling the truth and that's why they're doing well and that's why they're going to win This will be a tight election midterms are every single time and it's true that we have to defy history. It's only happened twice in 90 years that a sitting president has picked up seats for his party but I genuinely believe that this midterm is unlike any other. We have a broadening chasm between the two parties You're right, under Biden and Harris gas prices went to five dollars a gallon Now, gas prices are too high right now inflation's too high, but that's related to the conflict in Iran and as soon as that is resolved which I think happens soon after the election then prices come back down The reason they went to five dollars a gallon under Biden is because of all the things you just said. They wanted to end fossil fuels How is that what's that going to do for your gas prices? You have to keep the grown-ups in charge steady hands at the wheel That's why Republicans have to keep control of Congress One other one, sir I want to ask you about in the remaining weeks I mean, in terms of GOP messages this business is about Medicare for all Speaker Medicare for all. Now if you look, and I'm sure you know this you look at the original Senator Bernie Sanders legislation lots of co-sponsors, basically every Democrat is running on Medicare for all So Medicare for all among other things, means you will lose your private health insurance okay? If you like the insurance plan you have now you will lose it under Medicare for all That's part of the legislation Point number one. Hundred and sixty million Americans by the way, private Medicare through their employer and they like it but they'll lose it. Second point I want to raise is in that legislation, sir Medicare for all means Medicare free for illegal immigrants in the United States Free healthcare for illegals and it turns out that includes things like food stamps And SNAP and Medicaid and housing subsidies illegals would be eligible for free healthcare free Medicare, free Medicaid and a variety of other small entitlements as well Now, I don't know if people know that Mr. Johnson. I, I don't know, Speaker but I think they ought to know in the next sixteen days They're absolutely right, and in addition to that they would erase the border Remember they would put the welcome mat back out and let everybody in the world come in Medicare for all is a disaster It would turn government over government in charge of healthcare like everything else You would surrender your freedom you would surrender choice in the marketplace What we want to do is bring down costs by adding transparency and competition and bringing some order to this chaos We have great ideas to do that but we have to have some reasonable Democrats who will assist so we can pass that through the Senate That's what we're hoping for What I'm concerned about Larry, is going forward, I don't think this is our Democrat our, our father's Democrat party anymore I think they are going far left You see that emerging around the country I'm afraid this insurgent left group would take us over the cliff And once again, that's why everybody has to vote I mean, really, every vote's gonna count You have to keep common sense in charge and that's a vote for the Republicans for the House and the Senate Well, I know they bring back high taxes I know they'd reopen the border I know they were dying to bring back all the woke stuff that you and President Trump have killed off in recent years I just think this Medicare for All and Medicare for illegal immigrants and everybody else would lose their private I think that's a big issue in the last week or two sir. That's just my kibitzing I don't mean to do it but you know, I can't help myself You're right, as usual. That's right Speaker Johnson, we appreciate your time very much Good luck on the campaign trail Talk soon. All right folks here
