Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Montana. Every point on this page links to its source. We don't grade candidates or tell you how to vote. As of 2026-09-28.
Alme says he cut taxes for working families as a state official, including spearheading the largest income tax rate cut in Montana history and delivering large income tax cuts while balancing budgets and cutting wasteful spending.
“spearheaded the largest income tax rate cut in state history”
From FEC filings for 2025–26. Outside spending is money a group spends on its own about a candidate — TV and online ads, mail, canvassing. It is not a donation to the campaign, and the candidate does not control it. Supporting means it was spent to help that candidate win; Opposing means it was spent to defeat them, usually on attack ads. Groups report it within 24 or 48 hours as the election nears. Raised is the campaign's own fundraising, as of its latest quarterly report. Largest donors come from each outside spender's own FEC receipts, with each donor's share of its itemized receipts; donors under $100,000 are not named. People are shown with the employer and occupation they reported. A donor that is itself a political committee is shown with its own largest donors. Companies and nonprofits don't report their funders to the FEC, so the trail ends there, and the page says so.

Allegations
Ad alleging low sex-crime prosecution rate as U.S. Attorney
An advertisement funded by the group Independent PAC alleged that as U.S. Attorney, Alme's office declined to prosecute more than 70% of sex crimes brought before it, including giving what the ad called a 'sweetheart deal' in a child rape case; Alme's campaign said the figure came from a five-year period overlapping about three years he was in office and that roughly a third of those cases were referred to other agencies.
Response: Alme's campaign told Nonstop Local the plea deal ensured the defendant would have had a conviction on his record, and he was ordered to complete sex offender evaluation and treatment.
Alme filed to run for Senate within minutes of Sen. Steve Daines' last-minute withdrawal from the race, a sequence Daines said he engineered by recruiting Alme as his successor; the maneuver drew criticism from Daines' opponents in Montana and from Democrats in Washington as an attempt to hand-pick a successor rather than let voters choose through an open primary.
