Economy and cost of living
Barrett says he wants to bring down inflation by cutting government spending, lowering taxes and putting America First in trade policy. He has also introduced bills on housing costs, such as tax-free first-time homebuyer savings accounts and portable mortgage rates.

Barrett says he signed the Taxpayer's Protection Pledge and will work to lower the tax burden on all Americans. He also says he wants to cut government spending.

Barrett has introduced a bill requiring insurers to spend more premium money on medical claims and less on overhead and profits. He has also introduced a bill to stop fraudulent enrollment in ACA plans, and several bills to improve veterans' health care access.
Barrett says the immigration system is broken and the southern border is out of control. He says he will make sure border agencies have the tools to stop illegal entry and will work to complete the border wall.
Barrett's campaign site describes him as a consistent pro-life state legislator. He has also introduced a bill to prohibit assisted suicide in Washington, D.C.
Barrett has introduced bills to cap congressional campaign spending, require PACs to raise half their money in the state where they spend it, and limit mid-decade redistricting. He also proposes a constitutional amendment allowing stricter campaign finance rules and one setting 20-year term limits for federal judges.
