From FEC filings for 2025–26. Outside spending is money a group spends on its own about a candidate — TV and online ads, mail, canvassing. It is not a donation to the campaign, and the candidate does not control it. Supporting means it was spent to help that candidate win; Opposing means it was spent to defeat them, usually on attack ads. Groups report it within 24 or 48 hours as the election nears. Raised is the campaign's own fundraising, as of its latest quarterly report. Largest donors come from each outside spender's own FEC receipts, with each donor's share of its itemized receipts; donors under $100,000 are not named. People are shown with the employer and occupation they reported. A donor that is itself a political committee is shown with its own largest donors. Companies and nonprofits don't report their funders to the FEC, so the trail ends there, and the page says so.

Loaded Language: The word 'radical' is an emotionally charged label used to trigger a negative reaction toward William Lawrence rather than describe his policies factually — for example: 'radical agenda'
Name Calling: Labeling Lawrence's policies as a 'radical agenda' functions as a derogatory characterization designed to discredit him without addressing specific policy details — for example: 'radical agenda'
Appeal to Fear: The claim that the agenda will 'cost Michigan families even more' invokes financial anxiety to generate fear and opposition toward Lawrence — for example: 'will cost Michigan families even more'

Glittering Generalities: The phrase 'common-sense solutions for Michigan families' uses vague, emotionally positive language that sounds noble but carries no specific policy meaning — for example: 'common-sense solutions'
Loaded Language: The phrase 'fight government control' uses emotionally charged framing to cast government as an adversary, triggering a reaction rather than conveying a specific policy position — for example: 'fight government control'

🚨 Michigan congressional candidate William Lawrence is calling the SAVE Act a barrier to eligible American voters — and says he is "a staunch opponent" of the bill.
Lawrence, a Democrat running for Michigan's 7th Congressional District seat, argues the legislation is designed "to erect barriers between qualified, eligible American citizens and the voting booth." The SAVE Act — formally the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act — would require documentary proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections. It has passed the House on a party-line vote and is currently stalled in the Senate. Critics say the bill would effectively end most online and mail-based voter registration.
Supporters of the bill point to DHS data cited by Republican lawmakers, which references over 250,000 non-citizens allegedly registered to vote across several states — though fact-checkers note those figures are preliminary and have not been fully verified. The seat Lawrence is seeking is currently held by Republican Rep. Tom Barrett, and the Cook Political Report rates the race a toss-up.
Where do you stand — does requiring proof of citizenship strengthen election integrity, or does it put up unnecessary hurdles for eligible voters? 👇

🚨 In unearthed footage, Michigan's 7th Congressional District Democratic nominee William Lawrence calls America's work ethic a "cult of hard work" and argues that more Democratic Socialists of America members should be elected to Congress.
Lawrence, a DSA member, Sunrise Movement co-founder, and Bernie Sanders-endorsed candidate, made the remarks across multiple podcast and radio appearances, including on his own podcast "Hegemonicon." He also separately described the Republican Party as an alliance between "fossil fuel billionaires" and "white supremacists," according to surfaced recordings.
Lawrence won the Democratic primary on August 4, 2026, with 43.2% of the vote, beating former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink (29.2%) and retired Navy SEAL Matt Maasdam (27.6%). He will now face incumbent Republican Rep. Tom Barrett in the general election. The Cook Political Report rates Michigan's 7th District a "toss-up," making Lawrence's comments a focal point heading into November.
Republicans are already amplifying the footage as the race heats up in one of the most competitive swing districts in the country.
What do you think, does this kind of footage change how voters see a candidate? 👇

🚨 William Lawrence, a Democratic candidate for Michigan's 7th Congressional District, called for defunding ICE in an interview with Michigan Public's *All Things Considered* as part of its Election 2026 coverage.
Lawrence, best known as a co-founder of the Sunrise Movement, argued that ICE is a "22-year-old agency" that should be eliminated — a characterization that checks out. ICE was established in March 2003 under the newly created Department of Homeland Security, following the Homeland Security Act of 2002 signed by President George W. Bush. The agency currently operates with an $11.2 billion budget and over 20,000 employees.
The clip was amplified by RNC Research on the day of the August 4 primary. Lawrence is running in a crowded field that includes Bridget Brink, a former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine who resigned in protest of President Trump's policies on the Russia-Ukraine war, and Matt Maasdam, a former Navy SEAL and military aide to President Barack Obama. The winner faces Republican Rep. Tom Barrett this fall in a race the Cook Political Report rates a toss-up.
Beyond immigration, Lawrence has also called for a moratorium on new data centers, labeled Israel's war in Gaza a genocide, and supports "Medicare for All" — positions that put him well to the left of the Democratic mainstream in this competitive Lansing-area district. What do you think — is defunding ICE a winning message in a toss-up district? 👇

An ad is on this page because its own "Paid for by" line is a campaign in this race; or it comes from a national Senate group and ran mostly in MI; or it ran mostly in MI and names a candidate — unless its sponsor is a campaign for some other office. Ads from outside groups appear alongside the campaigns' own.
Campaigns run one text as many separate ads. Identical text from the same sponsor is one card here, marked with its number of variants.
A technique is a specific manipulative move in the wording, found by our model and explained in one line. It is not a claim that the ad is false.
Claims are checked when a reader asks: press "Check this ad's claims" on a card. The check runs once and its result is shown to everyone afterwards. The ten ads with the most money behind them in each race are checked ahead of time.
Claim verdicts say what the cited sources say. A verdict that an ad is wrong or misleading is shown only when it cites an established fact-checker or an institutional record — Congress, a federal agency, a court — and its confidence is not low; a weaker one is not shown at all. Each verdict shows what it rests on and how confident it is. If we got one wrong, press Disagree: a verdict that readers dispute and no one defends comes down.
Video ads come from the campaigns' own YouTube channels; the transcript is analyzed. Meta ads are analyzed on their text; their video and images are not, yet.
