Husted has sponsored the Ratepayer Protection Act and the New Source Review Permitting Improvement Act, and a resolution to overturn an EPA rule on California vehicle pollution standards. He also voted to advance a bill on who pays for power grid upgrades for large-load customers.

Husted says he created the EdChoice Scholarship as Ohio House Speaker to expand educational freedom for children. He says he also expanded career technical education so more students graduate career-ready.
Husted has sponsored bills on export control violations and on China and AI power use, and voted against a resolution requesting information on Israel's human rights practices.

Read this before comparing the sides. Ads that attack an opponent use these techniques far more often than ads that introduce a candidate, whoever runs them, so the side running more attack ads shows a higher share. A technique is about wording, not about whether an ad is true. These are online ads only (Meta and YouTube), not television.
Exaggeration/Hyperbole (1), Loaded Language (1), Name Calling (1)
How a group is placed: by its own filings with the Federal Election Commission. A group is with a candidate when it reported spending to support that candidate, or to oppose the other one in the general election. The parties' own committees are with their nominee. Spending against a candidate in a primary places a group nowhere, and neither does our reading of its ads: a group with no such filing is listed as not placed. The sponsor table gives the reason for each.

Money in this race
From FEC filings for 2025–26. Outside spending is money a group spends on its own about a candidate — TV and online ads, mail, canvassing. It is not a donation to the campaign, and the candidate does not control it. Supporting means it was spent to help that candidate win; Opposing means it was spent to defeat them, usually on attack ads. Groups report it within 24 or 48 hours as the election nears. Raised is the campaign's own fundraising, as of its latest quarterly report. Largest donors come from each outside spender's own FEC receipts, with each donor's share of its itemized receipts; donors under $100,000 are not named. People are shown with the employer and occupation they reported. A donor that is itself a political committee is shown with its own largest donors. Companies and nonprofits don't report their funders to the FEC, so the trail ends there, and the page says so.

Assisting Ohioans facing emergencies abroad
Official office video · Senator Jon Hustedvideo · 0:53from 2026-11-02
My name is Summit Shah. We were actually on spring break down in Nicaragua. So, it was myself, my wife, our two daughters, and we were actually with a couple other Columbus families as well.
And we were actually involved in a unfortunate accident that was pretty traumatic. And you know, felt pretty lost. So, one of the first things that somebody in our group decided to do was to reach out, you know, as a constituent living here in Central Ohio and with Senator Houston, we reached out to his office to see, you know, what services and what support they could offer us.
In our situation, whether we needed somebody who serve as a translator or served and helped us like from a legal standpoint or even just getting back home safely in a medevac. You know, we really didn't know who to turn to and now we know that you can turn to your senator's office when you're in a situation of crisis and you got nowhere else to turn to.

Cutting Through Red Tape to Secure Medicare Coverage

Cathy Will, Lancaster, Ohio. I am a lifelong Ohio citizen. I uh was in the process of registering for Medicare and had worked with the local office.
I was told that I wouldn't be able to register because the time had lapsed. So, I reached out to the senator's office and um I I was amazed, absolutely amazed at contact. I do believe I received a response for an email within a day or two.
Oh, the team at Senator Husted's office is wonderful with a capital W. The response was so timely. The team was able to approach their contacts in the Medicare office and explain the situation.
I think it was approximately 1 month it was handled and I had my part B coverage. I received it in a timely fashion and I was able to make my appointments to take care of my medical concerns. If you have an issue that you're having trouble with resolution, I highly recommend it calling Senator Husted's office and talking to someone there.
There's also an online um possibility and they are wonderful at communication and also wonderful at productivity and resolution.

Investing in Ohio's infrastructure: City of Fairfield
Official office video · Senator Jon Hustedvideo · 1:38from 2026-10-21
I've been lifelong residents of Fairfield. In the 70s we was kind of discussed how the traffic was getting blocked and we'd do something about it, but nothing happened. Yeah, just speaking personally, I've avoided that intersection multiple times because of the the fear of getting held up by a train or forgetting that the train might be there and going and having to sit and wait.
This is a corridor that our public safety, specifically our fire department, just assumes is blocked at all times and they immediately reroute if there's a call to that service area. There's a school, our senior high school, which is probably about I'm going to say 200 yards away. Think of all the new drivers that have to make that crossing almost on a daily basis.
It'll be good to have the railroad overpass that will go completely over the railroad and there'll be no stopping. Those industrial customers are now going to be better served by direct access to the rail line. It's great that everybody is working together, federal and state officials, to make this happen.
So it was really great when Senator Husted was willing to hear out the problem and help us out by writing a letter and supporting us. So we're really thrilled that he was able to help us get this across the goal line because it's going to make a huge difference for our city, for our community. I was very shocked when I got a phone call to advise me that we've got our $40 million grant for our railroad project.
working on it for, you know, if you talk about from when it first started 40 years ago to today, you know, we're finally going to see that project get across the finish line.

Investing in Ohio's infrastructure: City of Cincinnati
Official office video · Senator Jon Hustedvideo · 1:10from 2026-10-21
I'm Brendon Cull. I'm the president and CEO of the Cincinnati Regional Chamber. So, when Fort Washington Way was first contemplated in the '90s, they buried the highway in Cincinnati.
That created Fort Washington Way. There was always a plan to cap Fort Washington Way and create a park space, create more connectivity to this beautiful riverfront where we have where the Reds and the Bengals play, and connect to downtown where our office workers are and where so many people live. And one of the people that we talked to over and over again was Senator John Husted.
First when he was Lieutenant Governor and now as a Senator. And he was so interested in this project, he got it right away because he gets economic development. He dug into this.
He made phone calls. He got engaged with the administration and really made sure that this project was front and center when it came time for build grants to be awarded. 26 years later, we're getting this grant for the first time thanks to Congress and the administration.
And we'll be able to begin the process of capping Fort Washington Way, which is really a promise that was made a generation ago to this community.

Husted: Enhancing Detection of Human Trafficking 10 01 26
Official office video · Senator Jon Hustedvideo · 1:09from 2026-10-05
Hello, it's Jon Husted and I have some good news. The legislation that I sponsored to cut down on human trafficking passed the Senate last night unanimously. This legislation will help address the scourge that came with open borders over the last few years bringing organized crime and more human trafficking to our country.
Well, this law that we passed, the Enhanced Detection of Human Trafficking Act, will help make sure that the entire federal workforce is out there identifying cases of human trafficking, turning in them over to law enforcement, and cracking down on human trafficking in this country. Human trafficking is a scourge and we need to do all we can to stop it. This legislation will go a long way to getting that done.
It was passed on a bipartisan basis and I'm proud of it. When the president signs it, it's on his way to his desk right now, it will be the fourth law that I've been able to pass in my brief time in the US Senate. I'm proud of the work that so many people from Ohio did to help me get this done.
Thank you and God bless our great state and it's great to know that we're going to save a few lives as a result of this legislation.

And we're going to get more funding for this facility, a new generation of investment to upgrade this place to make the the next uh generation of weapon systems, which will provide secure jobs for the people that work at the Lima Tank Plant, and the 227 companies around the state of Ohio that are part of the supply chain for this.
So, very, very important facility. It's important that we uh continue to support uh the best weapon system for America's military, and we make them right here in Ohio.

Husted: Celebrating National Shooting Sports Month
Official office video · Senator Jon Hustedvideo · 1:09from 2026-08-31
Pull. We're here at Blackwing. They have a great shooting sports center here.
We've been here for 24 years, family-owned business, and specialize really in in all the shooting sports. So, we have indoor rifle and pistol ranges, outdoor shotgun ranges, gunsmiths, do large events, corporate events, really anything that you need we can provide. And what I've learned today is about how you have so many youth sports.
A lot of schools are now doing shooting sports as part of their extracurriculars. We do. In fact, the shotgun sports is the fastest growing sport in high school right now, and we are seeing a boom with the with the high school kids here at Blackwing.
Yeah, it's really cool. Well, it's national shooting sports month. We're celebrating it.
Uh I made some progress on my target shooting today. DID OKAY. OH, BUT WE GOT A LOT OF room to improve on that.
But, hey, I love being out here. I love hunting, I love fishing, I love all the outdoor sports that I can participate in, and we're we're grateful to have Blackwing hosting us today.

Cathy Will, Lancaster, Ohio. I am a lifelong Ohio citizen. I uh was in the process of registering for Medicare and had worked with the local office.
I was told that I wouldn't be able to register because the time had lapsed. So, I reached out to the senator's office and um I I was amazed, absolutely amazed at the contact. I do believe I received a response from an email within a day or two.
There's also an online um possibility and they are wonderful communication and also wonderful productivity and resolution.

Husted: It's time to empower first-time homebuyers
Official office video · Senator Jon Hustedvideo · 1:07from 2026-08-20
When I got appointed to the US Senate, I committed myself to focusing on issues that matter to working families in Ohio. One of those things is making life more affordable for them. Home ownership is one of those issues.
Home ownership has long been considered part of achieving your version of the American dream. But it's become difficult for many working families to afford housing and particularly for young people to have the hope that they can buy a home. That's why I'm leading a bipartisan firsttime home buyer empowerment act.
This bill would allow people to use unused 529 college savings, of which 40% of Ohioans with children have these accounts. It would allow them tax-free to use these accounts towards a down payment for first-time home purchase. By freeing up existing resources, we're helping Ohioans get closer to buying that first home so they can achieve their version of the American dream.
It's so important that we help young people off to a good start. Giving them flexibility on how they use 529 accounts is one of those things.

Husted: It's time for a national voter ID law 08 08 26
Official office video · Senator Jon Hustedvideo · 1:22from 2026-08-08
Madam President, the gentleman from Ohio is recognized. Madame President, using a photo ID to vote is common sense. It's an issue Americans broadly support.
So tonight, this early morning, I'm offering a clean, simple, straightforward bill to require a photo ID to vote in America. Voters can use a driver's license, a stateisssued ID, passport, military or veterans ID, or tribal ID. No additional restrictions, no tricks, no games, no prohibitions on absentee voting.
36 states require some form of voter ID. Photo ID laws have been tested in elections across this country and they work. So, so tonight I'm asking my colleagues to answer one simple question.
Should you have to prove who you are when you vote? Americans think we should, and tonight we'll find out if their senators agree. I urge my colleagues to vote yes on this bill to establish a nationwide photo ID standards and give Americans better run, honest, and fair elections.
Madame President, I yield the floor.
Bandwagon Appeal: Implies that because Americans broadly hold a view, senators should agree with it, pressuring conformity through majority opinion. Flagged: “Americans think we should, and tonight we'll find out if their senators agree”.
Glittering Generalities: Uses vague, positive words about elections to sell the bill without specifics. Flagged: “better run, honest, and fair elections”.

Ohio taxpayers can claim a federal credit starting Jan. 1, 2027, for qualifying donations to approved K-12 scholarship groups. The credit is capped at $1,700 per person, or $3,400 for married couples filing jointly.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Sen. Jon Husted discussed the program at Crown Preparatory Academy in Columbus. The scholarships can cover expenses such as tuition, tutoring and special-needs services for eligible students.

Sen. Jon Husted urged Democrats to advance the Ratepayer Protection Act before a Senate procedural vote failed 57-43, three votes short of the 60 needed. Four Democrats joined Republicans. It was not a final passage vote.
Husted said the bill would lower electricity costs and hold data centers accountable. The measure would require utility regulators to consider, but not adopt, a standard making large customers cover grid-upgrade costs. Democratic Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer called the voluntary approach insufficient.

The U.S. Senate unanimously passed bipartisan legislation introduced by Ohio Republican Sen. Jon Husted and Michigan Democratic Sen. Elissa Slotkin that would require Department of Labor employees to receive training to identify potential human trafficking during workplace inspections.
The legislation now heads to President Donald Trump’s desk, with Husted arguing it will help combat human trafficking and organized crime that he linked to the Biden administration’s border policies.

A woman with dementia and a walker, dumped at a shelter that already had 100 people on its waiting list. Seven Ohio nursing homes did this, federal inspectors found — and Jon Husted co-wrote the 2002 law that made those facilities harder to sue, cutting the window to file suit and blocking inspection findings from court. He's since taken more than $1 million from the nursing home industry, and NBC4 found nursing home PACs and lobbyists have given at least $34,000 more to his Senate campaign this year alone.

The Senate adjourned for its August recess after passing a government funding bill, confirming Todd Blanche as attorney general, and advancing a Russia sanctions package, but the SAVE America Act was not brought to a vote.
Sen. Jon Husted pushed to bring the election security bill to the Senate floor, arguing it would strengthen voter integrity through measures such as photo ID requirements, but Democrats blocked the effort and Republicans lacked the support needed to advance it.
GOP leaders now plan to revisit elements of the legislation through a budget reconciliation package when Congress returns in September, which would allow Republicans to bypass a Senate filibuster.

Sen. Jon Husted said the Senate's top priority before the August recess is passing a continuing resolution to keep the government funded and avoid a shutdown, calling it "job one."
He also said Republicans are working to confirm President Donald Trump's nominees, including attorney general nominee Todd Blanche, while advancing legislation on election security, Russia sanctions, and cryptocurrency regulation.
Husted reiterated his support for the SAVE America Act and voter ID requirements, saying, "We're also trying to get done to make sure President Trump has the team that he needs to govern and run America."

Sen. Jon Husted honored World War II veteran Sgt. Wayne Franklin Phillips on the Senate floor ahead of his 100th birthday, recognizing his military service during the Battle of the Bulge and his role in helping secure freedom during World War II.
Husted also praised Phillips' decades of public service after returning home, noting his work as a Henry County commissioner, community leader, and founder of the family-owned Phillips Oil Company, where he still works nearly every day. Husted said Phillips embodies the values of the "Greatest Generation" and urged Americans to honor the service and sacrifices of World War II veterans so their stories are never forgotten.

🚨 U.S. Sen. Jon Husted (R-OH) took to the Senate floor to defend Ohio's photo voter ID law, arguing the measure boosted — rather than suppressed — electoral participation, and calling for similar requirements to be adopted nationwide.
Sen. Husted pointed to Ohio's 71.71% turnout in the 2024 presidential election, claiming the state recorded its second-highest voter turnout across the last four presidential elections since the photo ID law took effect. Husted, who served as Ohio Secretary of State from 2011 to 2019 before being appointed to the Senate in January 2025, framed the data as proof that voter ID laws do not disenfranchise voters.
His remarks came during Senate debate over the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act — legislation that would require proof of citizenship at voter registration and photo ID at the polls. The bill, sponsored in the Senate by Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) and championed by President Trump, passed the House in February 2026 and was also folded into the FY2027 National Defense Authorization Act. Ohio's own photo ID law, House Bill 458, was signed by Gov. Mike DeWine (R) on January 6, 2023. Ohio Secretary of State data shows the number of ballots rejected due to missing ID rose from 698 in November 2022 to 3,820 in November 2023 after the law took effect.
Do voter ID laws strengthen election integrity, or do rising ballot rejections signal a barrier to access? 👇

🚨 Sen. Jon Husted takes to the Senate floor to honor Rittman Police Sgt. Scott Ries, a 31-year law enforcement veteran killed in the line of duty on July 5, 2026.
Sgt. Ries, 54, was shot and killed while responding to a disturbance call near 90 Chippewa Trail in Rittman, Ohio. Upon arrival, officers came under immediate gunfire. Four other officers and a Wayne County Sheriff's Office K-9 were also shot. Sgt. Ries had served the Rittman Police Department for 10 years and was promoted to sergeant in 2023 — a badge his wife, Michelle, proudly pinned on him herself.
Sen. Husted honored Sgt. Ries as a devoted husband, father, and community member, keeping Michelle, their children, and his fellow officers in his prayers. Gov. Mike DeWine ordered flags flown at half-staff across Wayne County and at the Ohio Statehouse in his memory. Sgt. Ries served Ohio for 31 years — a true public servant who made the ultimate sacrifice protecting others.

An ad is on this page because its own "Paid for by" line is a campaign in this race; or it comes from a national Senate group and ran mostly in OH; or it ran mostly in OH and names a candidate — unless its sponsor is a campaign for some other office. Ads from outside groups appear alongside the campaigns' own.
Campaigns run one text as many separate ads. Identical text from the same sponsor is one card here, marked with its number of variants.
A technique is a specific rhetorical move in the wording, found by our model and explained in one line. It is not a claim that the ad is false.
Claims are checked when a reader asks: press "Check this ad's claims" on a card. Running a check and seeing its verdicts are part of Semblen Pro, because each check costs money to run; anyone can see which claims an ad makes. The ten ads with the most money behind them in each race are checked ahead of time.
Claim verdicts say what the cited sources say. A verdict that an ad is wrong or misleading is shown only when it cites an established fact-checker or an institutional record — Congress, a federal agency, a court — and its confidence is not low; a weaker one is not shown at all. Each verdict shows what it rests on and how confident it is. If we got one wrong, press Disagree: a verdict that readers dispute and no one defends comes down.
Video ads come from the campaigns' own YouTube channels; the transcript is analyzed. Meta ads are analyzed on their text; their video and images are not, yet.
