James Talarico has returned to the campaign trail after being out of the public eye for nearly two weeks, prompting questions from Republicans about his absence.
Talarico was last seen at an in-person Texas event on Sept. 28 before traveling to New York for a fundraiser. His campaign said he had been sick and recovering from a bad case of the flu.
During his absence, Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton questioned Talarico’s whereabouts, including at a rally with President Donald Trump in San Antonio. Trump also criticized Talarico’s absence.
Talarico’s return has also renewed attention on his legislative attendance record. According to MyRepTracker, he has missed 795 of 8,079 recorded roll-call votes — roughly 1 in 10 — during his time in the Texas Legislature.
With Talarico now running for U.S. Senate, does his recent absence and legislative record raise questions about whether he will show up for Texans if elected?

Hey, Texas !!️!!️!!️
THIS is the guy you want your children and grandchildren to copy as a "great leader" of your state❓❓❓
Are you going to let Ken Paxton Mess with Texas (again).!?️
Come on, we ARE better AND DESERVE BETTER than KEN PAXTON.
MAJOR CATEGORIES OF ALLEGED PAXTON WRONG-DOING OVER MANY YEARS. DETECT A PATTERN HERE, ANYONE ??????
Felony securities fraud & registration violations (2015–2025)
🔥Indicted on three felony counts in 2015: two first‐degree securities fraud charges and one third‐degree charge for failing to register as an investment adviser.
🔥🔥Allegedly recruited investors into Servergy Inc. without disclosing he was being paid a commission.
🔥🔥🔥Case dragged on for nearly a decade; resolved via pretrial diversion in 2024 (community service, ethics courses, restitution of about $271,000), followed by dismissal of charges in 2025—a negotiated exit from felony exposure.
Impeachment: bribery, abuse of office, obstruction (2023)
🔥🔥🔥🔥Impeached by the Texas House in May 2023 on 20 articles, including:
✅Bribery and improper benefits tied to Austin real‐estate investor Nate Paul.
✅Abuse of office—allegedly using the AG’s powers to intervene in legal matters to benefit Paul.
✅Obstruction of justice and dereliction of duty.
💥💥House IMPEACHMENT vote was 121–23, with large numbers of HIS OWN Republican Party voting to impeach.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Whistleblower retaliation & taxpayer‐funded judgment (2020–2025)
💥💥EIGHT SENIOR AIDES TO PAXTON REPORTED PAXTON TO THE FBI in 2020, alleging criminal conduct related to his relationship with Nate Paul.
Those aides were then fired or forced out, leading to a whistleblower lawsuit under the Texas Whistleblower Act.
!!️In April 2025, the state agreed to a $6.6 million judgment, effectively a taxpayer‐funded settlement for alleged retaliation.
Nate Paul–related scandals & alleged misuse of office
Allegations that Paxton used the AG’s office to benefit Nate Paul, including:
✅Intervening in legal disputes involving Paul.
✅Pressuring staff to take unusual actions on Paul’s behalf.
These actions formed the backbone of both the FBI complaints and the impeachment articles.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Personal conduct & ethical issues
⚫️Admitted extramarital affair with a woman who worked in his office; this affair was explicitly referenced in impeachment materials as part of the alleged bribery/benefits pattern (Paul allegedly helped facilitate the relationship).
⚫️His wife, Angela Paxton, later filed for divorce in 2025, citing adultery; court records were initially sealed and then unsealed after media challenges.
Abuse of office & rule‐of‐law concerns beyond Nate Paul
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Evading process servers in 2022 when they attempted to serve him in a lawsuit.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Filing lawsuits to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in multiple states, widely criticized as legally baseless and politically motivated.
Refusing or reshaping enforcement priorities in ways critics say were partisan or retaliatory, including immigration/DACA and election‐related matters.
⚫️⚫️⚫️⚫️Long‐term pattern: indicted, impeached, yet still (SOMEHOW ???) advancing politically; under felony indictment for nearly a decade.
⚫️⚫️⚫️⚫️Impeached by his own party, reported to the FBI by his own senior staff, and hit with a multimillion‐dollar whistleblower judgment.
CLEARLY, FOLKS, THIS Paxon guy IS NOT SOMEONE WE NEED "REPRESENTING US" IN CONGRESS.
🔷🔷Time for a refreshing change in Texas.🔷🔷 “Look at James Talarico. Talarico is reaching out across the spectrum politically in Texas,” a supporter pointed out. “He’s a seminary, he’s a guy who talks about faith all the time. But also talks about economics.
While Paxton is a moral trainwreck.”
Name Calling: Sarcastic scare quotes around 'great leader' and the contemptuous 'the guy' discredit the person without addressing any argument.
Appeal to Fear: Invoking children and grandchildren copying the person implies a threat to the next generation to provoke alarm. Flagged: “your children and grandchildren to copy”.
Glittering Generalities: Vague, flattering appeal that 'we are better' and 'deserve better' carries no specific substance or policy argument.
Loaded Language: The sarcastic '(SOMEHOW ???)' and the stacked legal-trouble terms are meant to provoke indignation rather than inform.
Card Stacking: Lists only indictments and impeachment and 'nearly a decade' of felony indictment, with no mention of outcomes, acquittals, dismissals or context, to push a one-sided conclusion. Flagged: “indicted, impeached”.

🚨 An undercover video published by Townhall shows Sky McAdams, an organizing manager for Texas Majority PAC, describing a program that pays people $25 to attend a one-hour Zoom class about why voting is important and why Republicans are responsible for various problems. McAdams, speaking on a recording dated August 19, 2026, called the arrangement a "roundabout way of paying people for their votes" and acknowledged it is "a little gray."
The program, which McAdams identified as the "Paid Relational Program," is operated by a company called Relentless using software named Rally, under the banner Rally Texas. McAdams noted that while paying someone directly to vote for a candidate is prohibited, paying them to attend a class is a different arrangement.
Texas Majority PAC, a George Soros-backed group founded by former Beto O'Rourke staffers, reported paying Relentless $500,000 for a "relational organizing program" in a July campaign finance filing, roughly 20 percent of all its expenditures at that point. At $25 per attendee, that sum could fund participation for as many as 20,000 people. Relentless claims it ran similar campaigns across five battleground states in 2024, netting what it describes as 47,533 Democratic votes.
The PAC is active in the Texas U.S. Senate race, where Democratic state Rep. James Talarico faces Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton in a contest recent polling shows separated by less than one percentage point. What do you think: does paying someone to attend a political Zoom class cross a line? 👇

I disagree with James Talarico and Democrats. We should not put down a "welcome mat" at our southern border.
Don't be fooled by tough talk this election. Democrats are for open borders and will immediately reverse all the work we have done to secure our border if given the chance.
We need to strengthen our southern border, give border personnel the resources they need, crush human and drug trafficking networks, and fully control who we are letting in — not open it back up to let thugs and cartel members back in freely.
Exaggeration/Hyperbole: Overstates the opposing party's position and the certainty and speed of its actions beyond what evidence supports. Flagged: “will immediately reverse all the work we have done to secure our border”.
Appeal to Fear: Suggests a looming border security threat if the opposing party wins, pushing voters to act on fear. Flagged: “Democrats are for open borders”.
Black-and-White Fallacy: Frames the choice as secure borders under one party versus open borders under the other, ignoring other positions. Flagged: “Democrats are for open borders”.
Loaded Language: Emotionally charged words like 'thugs' and 'crush' frame border policy in hostile terms rather than conveying facts.

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico met with volunteers for a statewide food drive in Dallas as Republicans prepare to gather for a midterm convention nearby.
“While we’re here serving our neighbors, billionaire mega donors and their puppet politicians are clinking their champagne glasses,” Talarico said.
Volunteers distributed donations from the campaign’s “Love Thy Neighbor” food drive at the Frederick Douglass Human Services and Justice Center in Dallas on Wednesday.
The food drive is intended to draw a contrast with the GOP convention in Dallas this week and highlight rising grocery prices, a key focus of Talarico’s campaign against Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton. The campaign collected more than twenty thousand pounds of groceries at sites in Dallas, Plano, Glenn Heights, Fort Worth and Denton earlier this week.

James Talarico is running to ban dark money, gerrymandering, and stock trading by members of Congress. But he can't unrig this system alone. Chip in $5 to help me defeat my MAGA opponent Keith Self, who's bought out by billionaires like Elon Musk, and let's send James a partner in the House.
Loaded Language: 'Unrig' implies the political system is fraudulently manipulated, using an emotionally charged term rather than a specific factual claim.
Name Calling: Labels the opponent with the partisan tag 'MAGA' and says he is 'bought out' to discredit him rather than address his positions.

Follow the money in Texas politics, and the pattern becomes unmistakable.
West Texas billionaires Tim Dunn and Farris Wilks are the primary bankrollers of hardline political action committees like Texans United for a Conservative Majority (TUCM), pouring millions into reshaping Texas government. Firsthand accounts link Wilks directly to the radical “Seven Mountains Mandate”—an extreme dominionist framework that seeks to capture cultural and governmental institutions to impose a rigid biblical worldview.
That money trail leads right into local representation:
• The PAC Cash: TUCM has funneled over $110,000 directly into Chris Spencer’s campaign coffers across the 2024 and 2026 cycles.
• The Allied Machine: Dunn and Wilks are central financial pillars backing organizations like the True Texas Project and allied PAC networks that target rural public schools.
• The Power Alignments: Spencer also operates as a hand-picked ally of Ken Paxton and Greg Abbott—who pumped nearly $700,000 into Spencer to push private school vouchers at the expense of rural public education.
You are who you run with. When a candidate takes tens of thousands of dollars from political machines funded by far-right billionaires trying to mandate their theology into law, you get extreme political agendas, not independent community leadership.
Financial Ties to the Dunn/Wilks.
• PAC Funding Pipeline: Chris Spencer has received significant financial backing from Texans United for a Conservative Majority (TUCM), accepting $30,973 in the 2024 cycle and an additional $80,000 in the 2026 cycle (totaling over $110,000).
• Billionaire Backers: Campaign finance records show that TUCM is overwhelmingly financed by West Texas oil billionaires Tim Dunn and Farris Wilks, with the Dunn and Wilks families accounting for roughly 84% of the PAC’s total contributions.
• Network Successor: TUCM was formed as a successor PAC following fallout surrounding Defend Texas Liberty, serving as the primary vehicle for Dunn and Wilks to fund legislative candidates.
Greg Abbott’s Voucher Machine
• Primary Patron: While TUCM provided significant support, Governor Greg Abbott has served as Spencer’s single largest financial backer, contributing roughly $699,575—approximately two-thirds of Spencer's entire campaign funding across both cycles.
• Targeting Voucher Opponents: Abbott endorsed and financed Spencer as part of his coordinated effort to replace House Republicans who voted against taxpayer-funded private school vouchers and Education Savings Accounts (ESAs).
• Allied School-Choice Backing: In addition to Abbott's direct contributions, Spencer received $62,125 from the pro-voucher Family Empowerment Coalition PAC.
The Ken Paxton Alignment
• Shared Primary Objectives: Spencer ran with endorsements from both Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton against former incumbent Gary VanDeaver, who had voted to impeach Paxton and opposed school vouchers.
• The Retribution Coalition: Spencer’s candidacy sat squarely at the confluence of the Paxton-defense apparatus and the Abbott voucher coalition, both of which were heavily supported by the Dunn/Wilks PAC infrastructure.
How Extreme is the Seven Mountains Mandate?
The Seven Mountain Mandate (7MM)—also known as the Seven Mountain Strategy—is a prominent theological and political strategy within Christian Dominionism. Propagated heavily by networks like the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR), it calls on Christians to "take dominion" or control over seven core spheres of society: government, education, media, family, business, arts/entertainment, and religion.
In Texas, this strategy has moved from the fringes into mainstream political arenas, sparking significant controversy. Critics, civil rights groups, and mainstream theologians view the extreme ideologies associated with the 7MM as a threat to pluralism, democracy, and marginalized groups.
________________________________________
1. Controversies and Impact in Texas
Texas has become a primary battleground for the Seven Mountain Strategy, where its influence is often felt across the Education, Family, and Government mountains:
• The Education Mountain: In Texas school districts like Grapevine-Colleyville and Southlake, 7MM alignment has influenced major overhauls in local school board policies. This has led to strict crackdowns on discussions regarding systemic racism, sex education, and LGBTQ+ inclusion, which proponents brand as "demonic ideologies" that must be purged through "spiritual warfare".
• The Government Mountain: High-profile Texas politicians and political donors have increasingly utilized the language of spiritual warfare. For instance, steps to push the Ten Commandments into public school classrooms and state leaders explicitly labeling the separation of church and state a "myth" are viewed by critics as direct applications of the 7MM playbook.
________________________________________
2. Extreme Ideologies Regarding Women
Within the strict application of 7MM theology, the "Family Mountain" is viewed through a rigid, patriarchal lens. Critics argue that the movement's extreme wing pushes ideologies that restrict women's rights:
• Complementarianism and Female Subservience: The strategy emphasizes a return to a biblical hierarchy where men hold ultimate authority in the home, church, and government. Extremist elements of dominionism view secular feminism as a "demonic spirit" (frequently referred to in their rhetoric as the Jezebel spirit) that subverts the natural, God-given order.
• Theocracy Over Bodily Autonomy: Under this worldview, laws regarding reproductive rights are not treated as public health or civil liberties matters, but as spiritual battles between divine law and demonic deception. Because the mandate aims to codify its specific religious tenets into state law, it leaves no room for reproductive freedom or secular frameworks of women's autonomy.
________________________________________
3. Extreme Ideologies Regarding People of Color
Civil rights organizations, including the Southern Poverty Law Center and progressive think tanks, argue that the Seven Mountain Mandate intersects heavily with White Christian Nationalism. The extreme ideologies toward people of color manifest in several ways:
• Erasure of Systemic Racism: Prominent 7MM leaders argue that concepts like systemic racism, Critical Race Theory (CRT), or diversity initiatives are tools used by spiritual enemies to divide the nation. By framing the history of racial inequality as a "demonic delusion" rather than a historical reality, the movement actively opposes policies meant to protect civil rights or address historical discrimination.
• Association with White Supremacy and Eurocentrism: Sociologists and religious historians point out that the 7MM frequently treats "Western culture" as a stand-in for "God's culture," which implicitly equates Christian dominion with the preservation of white societal dominance. Extreme variations of dominionism trace historical roots back to ideologies like British Israelism, which historically argued that only Anglo-Saxons were God's chosen people.
• Justification of Historical Oppression: Religious scholars note that the core logic of the 7MM—that God explicitly designs strict societal hierarchies and mandates one group to rule over others—mirrors the exact theological justifications used by 19th-century white enslavers to argue that Black people were divinely intended for subjugation. ________________________________________
Summary of the Extremist Core
At its furthest margins, the Seven Mountain Strategy views pluralism as weakness, compromise as betrayal, and coexistence as capitulation. Critics warn that by reducing complex social issues (like women's rights and racial equality) into binary battles between "godly" and "demonic" forces, the ideology effectively strip-mines the rights of any demographic that does not conform to its narrow, theocratic vision.
Conspiracy Appeal: Implies a hidden pattern that becomes 'unmistakable' once one 'follows the money', suggesting concealed coordination.
Loaded Language: Charged wording like 'bankrollers' and 'hardline' frames political donors negatively rather than neutrally.
Name Calling: Labels the donors as 'far-right billionaires' and their funding vehicles as 'political machines' to discredit the candidate by association rather than addressing arguments.
Black-and-White Fallacy: Presents the outcome as either independent leadership or extreme agendas, ignoring that accepting donations does not necessarily dictate positions. Flagged: “you get extreme political agendas, not independent community leadership”.

🚨 Texas Senate candidate Rep. James Talarico called billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban "one of the good ones" during a live healthcare panel at the Ridglea Theater in Fort Worth, with Cuban seated on the same stage.
The remark came in response to a moderator's question about Talarico's criticism of billionaire influence in politics. Talarico, whose campaign website states he has "led the fight against the billionaire mega-donors and puppet politicians who have taken over Texas," drew a distinction between billionaires who influence politics through donations and Cuban, whom he framed alongside wealthy champions of working people like FDR and RFK. Cuban said of Talarico during the event, "I believe in him."
The August 29 panel centered on the pair's joint "Breaking up Big Medicine" plan, announced one day earlier, which backs proposed antitrust legislation targeting healthcare monopolies. Talarico cited data showing 90% of all hospital beds are controlled by large hospital systems and that just three pharmacy benefit managers process roughly 80% of prescriptions nationwide. Cuban's Cost Plus Drug Company, founded in 2022, aims to lower generic prescription drug costs by cutting out pharmacy benefit managers entirely.
Talarico, the Democratic nominee, faces Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton in November. The Cook Political Report shifted the race from "Lean Republican" to "Toss Up" on August 20. Fox News co-host Jessica Tarlov also appeared on stage at the Fort Worth event.
Do billionaires who focus on consumer cost reform earn a different kind of trust from voters than those who donate to political campaigns? 👇

🚨 President Trump held an RNC fundraiser in Houston for Texas Senate candidate Ken Paxton. Paxton says the event signals Republican resources are coming into the race, and he is now expanding campaign advertising statewide.
The Texas Senate contest is rated a Toss-Up by the Cook Political Report, the first time the outlet has given that rating to a Texas Senate race since the Cruz vs. O'Rourke matchup in 2018. FEC filings show Democrat James Talarico holds a commanding fundraising lead, raising $72 million since the start of 2025 compared to Paxton's $16.8 million. California is Talarico's largest out-of-state donor state per FEC data. Paxton claims Talarico raised $11 to $12 million from California alone, though that specific figure is Paxton's own assertion from the interview.
Republicans may have a new financial avenue. A recent Supreme Court ruling is expected to allow Paxton to draw on the national GOP's resources more freely. The RNC and aligned committees report a combined $1 billion available to spend in the coming months. An AdImpact analysis projects total spending across both campaigns and outside groups could reach roughly $440 million, which would make this the second-most expensive U.S. Senate race in history.
Paxton won the GOP nomination by defeating four-term incumbent Sen. John Cornyn with 64% of the vote in the May runoff, one week after Trump endorsed him. A Democrat has not won a Texas statewide race in more than 30 years. What do you think: can Republican momentum and party resources close a $59 million fundraising gap in time? 👇

🚨 Texas Democratic Senate candidate Rep. James Talarico is arguing that the SAVE America Act would prevent Black Americans from voting. He made the remarks at a campaign event, part of his ongoing outreach to Black voters across Texas.
The SAVE Act, formally the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (S. 1383 / H.R. 22), would require documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote. Acceptable documents would be limited largely to birth certificates, passports, and naturalization certificates. Driver's licenses, state IDs, and REAL ID cards would not qualify in most states. Research from the Brennan Center for Justice found over 21 million Americans lack ready access to those documents, with people of color disproportionately represented in that group. In Kansas, where a similar law was already in effect, over 30,000 potential registrants were blocked in just two years, with 99% of them being U.S. citizens.
Talarico's remarks drew immediate pushback online, including from conservative account Libs of TikTok. Supporters of the bill counter that more than 80% of Americans support requirements to ensure only citizens vote in federal elections. The House has passed the SAVE Act multiple times since 2024, most recently in February 2026, and set aside $10 billion in election administration incentives in its July 2026 budget resolution. Talarico, who defeated Rep. Jasmine Crockett in the Democratic primary, faces Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton in the November 2026 general election. Three consecutive polls show Talarico narrowly ahead, 47% to 45%.

🚨 Texas Democratic U.S. Senate nominee James Talarico is calling the state's 2025 congressional redistricting map "the most aggressive attack on Black political power since Jim Crow," as the legal fight over Texas's redrawn district lines intensifies ahead of the November election.
Talarico, who defeated U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett in the March Democratic primary with 52.5% of the vote, made the remarks amid growing scrutiny of a map that a majority of lower-court judges found likely constitutes unconstitutional racial gerrymandering. The U.S. Supreme Court, in a 6-3 ruling, allowed the map to remain in place — a decision critics say will accelerate partisan redistricting across Southern states following the court's weakening of Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act in *Louisiana v. Callais*.
Black and Latino communities in Texas are on track to see the first legislatively enacted reduction in their electoral power since the Voting Rights Act's passage in 1965, according to civil rights groups including the Texas NAACP and the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. Talarico has pledged $25 million toward outreach to Black voters as he faces Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton in a race where three consecutive polls show him leading 47%–45%.
The redistricting dispute comes as Talarico and Rep. Crockett remain at odds following the primary — Crockett has called the race "a racist race" — though Talarico has publicly defended her before Black voter audiences in Houston. What does Texas's redistricting fight mean for minority voting power nationwide? 👇

🚨 Texas Democratic U.S. Senate nominee James Talarico says he has learned as much about his faith from Islamic mystics and poets like Rumi as from Christian authors and writers.
The remarks came during an April 2024 episode of *The State of Belief* podcast, where Talarico appeared alongside Texas Democratic State Rep. Salman Bhojani of Euless. Talarico said: "I know personally that I've learned as much about my faith from Salman's tradition, from the Islamic mystics, from poets like Rumi, as much as I have from Christian authors and Christian writers." He also quoted 13th-century Islamic mystic Rumi — "in every religion there is love, yet love has no religion" — and said interfaith dialogue "doesn't water down your tradition, in fact it strengthens it."
Talarico is a Presbyterian seminarian, current Texas State Rep. for District 50, and a former middle school teacher who holds a master's of divinity from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. The audio resurfaced after RNC Research posted the clip on July 27, 2026, as Talarico campaigns statewide. In a separate clip previously posted by RNC Research on June 23, 2026, Talarico was also heard saying, "I always think of myself as a Christian who hates Christianity." He has additionally referred to God as "nonbinary" and described Jesus as a "radical feminist."
Talarico defeated Rep. Jasmine Crockett in the Democratic primary and will face Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton in November — a steep climb in a state where Democrats have not won a statewide race in decades.

🚨 Texas Attorney General and GOP Senate nominee Ken Paxton is calling out Democratic rival Rep. James Talarico over a 2022 speech in which Talarico declared, "prison is violence" and that "people don't belong in cages."
In the speech, Talarico argued that "violence is a problem that cages will never solve," and added, "Poverty is violence. Pollution is violence. And yes, prison is violence." Paxton posted the remarks on X, saying he stands with law enforcement. Official House roll calls show Talarico voted against 2021 bail-tightening measures and against SB 4 in 2023, a bill that increased mandatory penalties for certain human-smuggling offenses.
Talarico's campaign disputes the characterization, stating he "does not support defunding the police" and has "consistently voted to allocate billions to fund law enforcement." The exchange comes as Paxton — endorsed by President Donald Trump — works to define Talarico ahead of the November 3, 2026 general election. A July 2026 poll of 1,048 likely Texas voters showed Talarico leading Paxton 45% to 40%, his largest lead in any public poll during the general election period.
The two are squaring off for the U.S. Senate seat previously held by four-term Republican incumbent John Cornyn, whom Paxton defeated in the GOP runoff. Where do you stand — should a candidate's past statements on criminal justice be front and center in a Senate race? 👇

🚨 Texas Democratic U.S. Senate nominee James Talarico has publicly stated he supports reparations for slavery, describing the policy as part of his faith tradition and citing what he calls the lasting reverberations of slavery in modern-day Texas.
Speaking at a candidate forum, Talarico outlined a reparations framework centered on specific economic policies — including tuition relief, home ownership grants, and baby bonds — aimed at building generational wealth in Black communities. He referenced freedman communities in Texas, including Sam Branch, Texas, as examples of the historical context he says informs his position.
The video clip was posted by Lone Star Liberty PAC, a pro-Ken Paxton Super PAC registered in April 2025. Talarico is the Democratic nominee facing Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in the November 2026 general election. Paxton defeated incumbent Sen. John Cornyn in the Republican primary runoff. The clip appears to originate from a direct Q&A exchange in which Talarico was asked whether he supports reparations and an anti-Black crime bill.
Talarico, an eighth-generation Texan, former middle school teacher, and Presbyterian seminarian, defeated Reps. Jasmine Crockett and Ahmad Hassan in the March 2026 Democratic primary. As of February 2026, he had raised $20.7 million for his Senate campaign.

🚨 Texas Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico was unable to name the six genders he once claimed exist when pressed by an attendee at a campaign event.
In 2021, during a Texas Legislature debate over a bill targeting transgender athletes, then-state Rep. Talarico stated, "Modern science recognizes that there are many more than two biological sexes — in fact, there are six." When an unidentified attendee from South Texas confronted him at a recent campaign event and asked him to name them, Talarico could not. A clip of the exchange went viral on conservative social media.
Talarico has since walked back the remark. He told CBS News, "I know there are two sexes, men and women," adding that "there's a very small percentage of people who have these chromosomal abnormalities, and I believe that they deserve to be treated with dignity and respect." He has also acknowledged that some of his past comments on cultural issues "missed the mark." Republican opponent and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton — who defeated Sen. John Cornyn in a primary runoff — has taken to calling him "Six-Gender Jimmy," and Republicans have made the 2021 remark a centerpiece of their attacks heading into the Senate race.

🚨 Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton pledged continued support for law enforcement at a press conference held during the annual Sheriff's Association of Texas meeting in Fort Worth. Paxton said he stood with police when it was not popular — and that he will always have officers' backs.
Paxton was joined by 22 law enforcement officers at the event, including Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Waybourn and several current and former sheriffs from across Texas. The AG's office noted that his Democratic Senate opponent, Texas Rep. James Talarico, opposed a bill to tighten bail requirements for violent criminals, voted against mandatory minimum sentences for human traffickers, and voted against designating drug cartels as terrorist organizations. Talarico also said in 2020 that "our system of policing is deeply broken" and argued it should be replaced.
Paxton, the 51st Attorney General of Texas, is not seeking a fourth term as AG and is instead running for U.S. Senate against incumbent Sen. John Cornyn's seat. The race between Paxton and Talarico is currently a statistical dead heat.
